Mirrie's Amazing
"Dreamsicle Cubes!"

"Did somebody say 'dreamsicle'?!
Mirrie - June 2001

This chilly frozen treat received rave reviews from the New World Kidz last summer... So much so that we made it a time or two over the winter as well.  Don't worry [and if you knew me personally, you wouldn't] NO COOKING is involved!

Necessary Ingredients & Utensils:

1 small can of Libby's Pumpkin [plain, not seasoned]

1small container of Dannon's Plain whole milk yogurt [or any brand you prefer]

1 empty ice cube tray

1 bowl & spoon for mixing

1 fully functional freezer [large or small!]

[You can see this isn't too complex, right?]

Directions:

Empty the can of pumpkin into the bowl.  Add 4-5 heaping Tbs. of yogurt and stir well.  How do you know when you have added enough yogurt?  Well, Mirrie tells me that when the mixture is the color of a DREAMSICLE it is perfect!  Spoon the yogurt/pumpkin mixture into the ice cube tray [you don't even have to be neat about it!].  If you feel the urge to make these treats "fancy" you can "ice" the yogurt/pumpkin cubes by placing another small dollop of yogurt on each cube [aaah! how cute!].  Freeze.  When cubes are completely frozen, dump them out into a plastic bag or container, and store in freezer for up to three months.

Special Serving Instructions for Basenjis [as told by Miss Mirrie]:

Stand in front of the fridge and stare at freezer door.  Especially do this if it is a warm day and you have been outside basking your "universal goddess" body in the hot sun on the sidewalk... Glare at the fridge until "The Alpha" notices.   Telepathically tell "The Alpha" to get out two "dreamsicle cubes" and throw them on the kitchen floor for you [don't worry - no carpet will be harmed during the course of this hypothetical serving suggestion!].  Crunch up the cubes, being sure to let at least a few crumbs fall out the corners of your mouth.  Allow your grown children to approach the crumbs.  Pretend you are actually going to let them EAT the crumbs.  When they are within about 3 inches of the crumbs, scream in their ears and shake their muzzles with your teeth!  They will fall to their bellies and wiggle like newborns == what a fun game!   Unfortunately, "The Alpha" may take pity on the underlings and GIVE them a couple of dreamsicle cubes.  If this happens, glare at "The Alpha" until he/she gives YOU another dreamsicle cube, too!
